brain energizer smoothie

Summer is officially here, which means in our house that it is also officially smoothie time!  My kids will wake up asking for these cool, fruity, nutritious treats.  So today I thought I’d post a smoothie recipe for you.  Note: you don’t need a juicer machine for this recipe, a blender will do just fine since we’re not removing the pulp.  Just blend and drink!  This is a recipe I’ve had for years, typewritten in my notebook – I’ve forgotten the source  so regrettably I can’t give credit.

Brain Energizer Smoothie

1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup chopped apple
1 1/2 T peanut butter
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/2 banana, peeled and sliced
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
grated lemon peel, optional
ice cubes, optional

Place the ingredients in a blender and process until creamy.
